Oh, Where is My Hairbrush

K’s motor skills get better every day, and she can actually brush her hair now.  She has fun, but I think that some of it is that she just likes to look at herself in the mirror.  Not for vanity so much, just because it is interesting.DSC_1594.

And she’s started to try to pull her hair back, too.  She does with her doll hair as well, with limited success.DSC_1615.

And I think my little one looks so grown up here!DSC_1596.

Little Peanut

She’s such a little peanut!DSC_1481. DSC_1491. DSC_1499. DSC_1505.

And let’s discuss how cute I find these socks to be—and the embroidery on the pant legs! DSC_1539 Playing with her big sister and learning how the toys on the ‘saucer work.DSC_1547.

After Church

When K. was done helping Dad shovel the driveway, she danced around the kitchen a while.DSC_1400.

And N, with the sweetest cheeks around.  She looks cute even when she’s not smiling.DSC_1433.

“Whoa—those must be the ‘feet’ that people keep talking about.  How long have those been there?”DSC_1451. DSC_1462

Let It Snow

As I write this, it is raining outside.  I do hope we have some more snow this season, or at least that the ground freezes (to reduce the wetness of the dogs that enter my house).  On Sunday after Church, though, B. decided to work on the driveway—otherwise it would rain on our snow, then re-freeze, and we’d be stuck with boulders of ice in the driveway.  P.S. I’ve found that the down side to a nice southern exposure for the back of your house is that the sun never shines on your driveway and never melts the snow for you.

“You mean we have to do this whole thing, Daddy?”DSC_1338

“Okay.  I’ll get started.” DSC_1342DSC_1335DSC_1358 “Daddy, you have to help too.”DSC_1349

Like father, like daughter:DSC_1343

And when she was done with her shoveling, she played in the snow—and chased Mom with snowballs (at Dad’s suggestion).DSC_1368

Plays Well With Others

I dragged the girls and my friend A. and her son S. shopping at a craft store.  After that trauma to the aforementioned parties, we came back to my house for some playing.  K. did a really nice job of sharing with S., which always warms my heart.DSC_1278.

S: “Wow!  An orange block!”

K: “There might even be another in her somewhere.”

A Day in the Life

“No more singing, Mom!”DSC_1219.

N, not really loving her tummy time but demonstrating great head control anyway:DSC_1198.

Keeping the Doctor Away

I was intrigued that a girl who cannot tolerate the skin on slices of apples, and pretends to have difficulty eating grapes, requested to eat an apple, whole.  She made pretty good work of it.  I guess she’s growing up.DSC_1236. DSC_1238.

Taking Turns

As much as I try to teach K. about taking turns, there are some times I wish she wouldn’t be so literal.  These are only two of the many outtakes from today’s photos, and K. and N. have each selected their own times to smile.DSC_1155. DSC_1159.DSC_1079.

Have Its Day

K. got a hand-me-down poodle costume from her cousin and was anxious to try it on.  This alone encouraged me that we might have several options for Halloween this fall, but I digress.  She had a great time pretending to be a dog—she walked around on all fours and hung out with D. and G.  Look at her cute smile!DSC_1047      This girl has some crazy hair!  DSC_1056

Among Toys

I love that my daughter, upon returning from church and while wearing an enormously puffy skirt, lays on the floor and plays with her cars.

And works on writing her letters on the magnet board.  And when I say letters, I mean “o” several times.  She can also write a capitol “i” proficiently.”DSC_1040.“Here’s my car!”DSC_1017.

Tiny Dancer

I subjected the poor little N. to dress up and look ridiculous for the sake of taking some cutesy photos.  I find them silly, but felt compelled to do it anyway for reasons I cannot explain.  I’m sorry, sweet N.  I’ll pay for your therapy when you’re older.
