Some mom-and-daughter photos for this Sunday. And in other news, for anyone reading this who didn’t already find out, I painted the living room and kitchen. I may or may not have wanted a better background for taking pictures of the girls…

Soccer Star
K. started her first team sport—soccer—last weekend. I don’t have huge hopes that she’ll be a professional soccer player (though she did cry every time she fell down), but I wanted her to have the experience of listening to a coach and learning something new and athletic. This was their second practice. I didn’t take many pictures last week because it took some parental involvement to get her out on the field. This week, though, she did much better and had a better idea of what was going on. Regardless of her skill level, she sure looked cute out there!
Rehydrating. She’s got her game face on.
With her friend, A, who hung out with her for a little while.

Shopping and Resting
“Guess what? Mom and Dad took us shopping today!”Nothing overly interesting—just a trip to Sam’s Club. When we pulled up, though, K. said, “Sam’s Club!” Not sure if she remembered that we had said we were going there or if she just knew.
The nice part about Sam’s, of course, is that the cart fits two children. Since K. is still a big fan of riding in carts/strollers (no desire to walk by herself), this is nice for us.
I’m not sure what N. was so interested in on the cart, but she appears to be studying it quite intently.
When we got home, everyone was tired.N: [yawns] “I’m bushed!”
In random thoughts, I’m finding that I think the girls resemble each other. When I look at the two of them, I feel like they look like sisters. In other random news, I am totally digging the preppy look on N. and really like that shade of pink on her.
That’s Entertainment
We got a new entertainment center for the living room (well, part of the entertainment center—we couldn’t afford the rest of the center and will hopefully get it eventually). It needed to be assembled, so Dad did it with the help of the girls.
K: Daddy, let me see those directions.
N: I’m pretty sure it’s actually this piece, Daddy.
N: See, this one. I’ll bring it over to you.
And because of the help (or in spite of it), we managed to get it together. Here, N. is enjoying some sports. N, gnawing: “This entertainment center is delicious!”
We’ll put the knobs on the drawers once the littlest one learns some boundaries.
Miscellaney
A long post catching up with some random pictures that didn’t go elsewhere and didn’t get blogged when they were current. Sorry.
For our anniversary (7 years!), B. and I went out for a romantic dinner—well, it was a dinner at least. We went to Olive Garden (which we’re fans of anyway) and since I forgot to try to pawn the children off on a friend, we took them with us. I downloaded an episode of one of K’s current favorite shows onto my iPod (yes, we were *that* family) and we didn’t hear a peep out of her the entire time. In her defense, she had been to the doctor that morning and got a shot, so she didn’t feel great anyway. She was a trooper.…………
In other news, N. moved into her big-girl car seat (still rear-facing, of course). I wasn’t able to get one that matched K’s, so I went with one that was cute. As I had suspected, K. was a bit miffed at first that hers didn’t have polka-dots on it, but she seems to have moved on.…………
N. and Dad making faces at each other. Looking at her toes, perhaps she is destined to be a ballerina? Or maybe a rocker (with the ever-present tongue).
…………
I took the girls out keyboard shopping with me the other day. N. had fallen asleep in the car, so I tried to just lay her in the reclined stroller to stay asleep. That didn’t work, but she woke up happy. Unrestrained by the buckle, she stood up and grabbed the canopy in front of her for support. She stood almost the entire time and had a blast! (Don’t worry—my hands always hovered near her so she wouldn’t fall).…………
Sunday mornings are difficult for N. and her friends from nursery, as they’re usually napping during that time. Sometimes she’ll fall asleep but mostly resists it. On this particular Sunday, though, the zonked out in the swing. Sorry about her Rambo-style headband. It slumped down when she did.…………
And in closing, some pictures of the sweet K. Her head wound looks worse than it was—she and dad were wrestling and she scuffed it on the couch. It didn’t actually ever bleed, but scabbed anyway? I think it just makes her look tougher.
That is all.

Music Maker
What does the little K. have in that case there? Could it be?It looks like it…
It is!
A sweet little K-sized violin!
“Put the camera down, Mama—I’m focusing here.”
It was not my intent to start her on violin at a young age (or ever at all—perhaps the French horn or ’cello instead), but she’s actually been pretty interested in the violin, so I figured it would be nice for her to have one to try. And thanks, Grandma and Grandpa L. for purchasing her first foray into the string world for her!
Her attention span is about what you might assume a young three-year-old’s would be; we work with it.
But her bow wrist/hand looks like it has some great potential!
If the violin doesn’t work out, or if the money fairy comes by, we’re totally going back and buying this adorable K-sized string bass!If I had an extra three grand, this would absolutely have come home with us!
