VBS Week

Our church held a Vacation Bible School.  K, unfortunately, missed the age cutoff by a few weeks, so she was in the nursery with the younger kids while I volunteered.  I got to wander around and take pictures, which is so much fun.  I get to move from area to area and see the fun all of the kids are having.

The older kids in K’s group did a craft every day, and I happened to be in there for one of them.  K was focused on the task at hand.DSC_6337.DSC_6341.

And had help from one of the wonderful helpers that week.  My girls had some of the neatest helpers in there with them.DSC_6343.DSC_6346.

And in other, unrelated news, K. can reliably write her name.  I took a picture of it, but posting it here would defeat the purpose of calling her “K” throughout the blog.  You’ll just have to take my word for it.  So instead, I’ll leave you with a rare photo in which K. both smiles and looks at the camera:DSC_5985.

A Grand Time

Grandma and Grandpa L. came to visit a couple of weeks ago, and the girls had a great time with them. My parents are so patient and play with the girls until I’m exhausted just watching them! The girls are so fortunate to have two great sets of grandparents to love them.DSC_5601DSC_5603.DSC_5600.DSC_5608DSC_5612.

Rockin’ Recital

K. had her ballet recital at the end of May, and she danced beautifully!  I think she really likes to dance (and she pretty much dances any time music comes on).  She also is somewhat coordinated, which is more than she can say for her mother.DSC_5317.I managed to get her to smile for a moment, but she usually has a very serious face on when she’s performing.DSC_5306.DSC_5323.And K. with her sweet teacher, who is so wonderful with the kids.DSC_5326.

Future Matisse?

One of K’s favorite things is to paint.  She will literally sit for hours and paint.  Right now, her favorite medium is watercolors, but I’m sure she’ll branch into others as well.DSC_5287.DSC_5288.

Daddy Birthday

We had a celebration for Dad’s birthday and Grandma and Grandpa came to visit.DSC_5131.DSC_5134.DSC_5128.

Kate was excited about the cake (even though it wasn’t hers) and helped to sing “Happy Birthday.”DSC_5141.DSC_5151.DSC_5165.

Happy Birthday to a wonderful father and husband!

Sweet Friends

The girls had a pair of friends over on Monday—K. and M. will be the same grade in school, and the little Ns are actually about the same distance apart as their big sisters.DSC_4997.

I love this little girl!DSC_5003.

Two babies, one swing.  So cute.DSC_5005.

And K. really likes little N—she’s much more interested in him than she was in her sister at that age.DSC_5013.

M, N, and their mom.  Such a sweet family!  (Well, the rest of their family is sweet too but doesn’t appear in this picture as they’re all at school).DSC_5042

And perhaps rainboots with a princess gown is the newest fashion trend?  DSC_5030

Future golfer?  I’m curious to see what sport(s?) N. will ultimately choose.DSC_5037

Two of the sweetest little girls ever!DSC_5047.

Spring Playtime

I feel like I talk a lot about the weather; I hope I am more interesting than that in real life.  We do have glimmers of nice, warm weather here, and with that we head outside to the back yard.DSC_4820.DSC_4832.DSC_4808DSC_4838.DSC_4878.DSC_4879

Sweet Sunday

Happy Mother’s Day!  The girls got me a cute card, and both of them signed it.  K. actually wrote “love” in addition to her name; there was a space issue so some of the letters are not in line, but I’m pleased that she made the effort.DSC_4915.DSC_4881.DSC_4883.DSC_4910.DSC_4925.DSC_4953.
