Fantastic Family Time

We had an amazing trip to the Grandma and Grandpa L’s house—and they had two additional visitors for us to spend time with: Great Auntie D. and Great Grandma!

But this is what happens when you make faces and try to make a nearly-two-year-old laugh—instead, she just mimics the faces!

Four generations, outside and with better lighting.  The children are less cooperative, though.We spent a great deal of time playing.  N. was perpetually bringing cups of “tea” to everyone, and you can see that Great Grandma has been given a napkin.

I don’t remember to where they are driving, but it was an involved car trip:And N. would often go sit with Great Grandma.  I think she’s trying to share her sippy cup at this moment.And checking out Great Grandma’s watch.

The weather was nice so we took a walk down to the park (actually, my Grandma really likes to walk so we took several walks).  With as much as she likes to move, it is no surprise that N. loves to swing.

The girls playing together on a springy thing.  I don’t know if I’ve mentioned it recently, but the girls have really been playing well together.  Not without fights, of course, but they’re playing the same things at the same time and interacting really well.  Plus, as N. gets older she is physically able to keep up with K. more.

Park Pals

We went for a picnic and playdate at the park with our friend E. and her son J (who is close to N’s age).  K. absolutely adores E. and was elated to be invited to a picnic.  We played for a while before lunch and the girls had a great time.  They’re at an age (and the park is set up nicely) so they can both play.

N. has become quite the climber.

And follows her big sister everywhere.

And look what K. has learned to do!  She’s become so much more brave and adventurous this summer!

And perhaps N. has a future as a track star?

Necklace N

N. loves to wear bracelets and necklaces: “neh…neh” said with urgency whenever she’s not wearing one.  Here she poses briefly with a pair of necklaces.  PS: K. made the blue and green one.

Basement Grouches

I’ll take some more pictures eventually, but B. finished finishing the playroom and media room part of the basement.  The girls have been having a wonderful time running and playing with each other and with friends.  Here they take a momentary pause to frown for the camera.

First Day: Friend Version

After taking “first day of school” photos with her sister, I took some with her good friend/neighbor T, who is going to the same school as K.  They are such cute friends!

Soccer Saturday

K’s soccer team got their uniforms (matching T-shirts and knee socks), and looked pretty cute in them!  She’s not going to become a soccer player as a career, but has improved so much over last year.  She doesn’t like going after the ball when someone else has it, but is good at kicking when unopposed.If nothing else, she might be the cutest one on the field.

First Day of School

K. had her first day of school!  She was excited to go and once she arrived, she wandered into the classroom like she’d been doing it for years.  Although she didn’t like to be separated from me when she was an infant/toddler, now she’s matured into a confident little kiddo.  She seems to really like school and loves her teacher.Making a silly face.  Of course.Sisters!And this is more like how I usually see them.

Little Kicker

K. started soccer through our church league.  Last year was a challenge; this year is better already.  She’s getting a lot better at being a part of a group.  I’m fairly convinced that she won’t be a soccer player as a career—and actually more convinced that putting her in dance class is a good move: every time she was instructed to run, she would prance, and every time she stood idly, she would do some sort of ballet pose (arabesque, etc.).But at least she’s quite stylin’.  All is not lost.Her team.  She has two of our neighbors/friends on the team, and she really enjoys that.

After soccer, N. was playing with K’s socks and wanted to try them on—and once I helped her put them on, she went to the shoe rack and helped herself to K’s cleats.  Not any random shoes, but the specific soccer shoes.  I feel bad that she’s not old enough to do soccer yet—I think she’ll like the running.

K. got a great ballet DVD for her birthday, and she and N. like to watch it.  K. is totally into dancing at the moment, and N. likes anything with physical movement.
